In today’s modern culture the Christian gospel is often perceived with erroneous presuppositions. People I have spoken with personally see Christianity as intolerant of other religions and belief systems. They often argue Christianity is a faith of perceived exclusivity which teaches that an all loving God condemns non-followers of the Messiah Yeshua (Jesus the Messiah, ie Christians) to a place of torment, hell. Many also see Christianity as a legalistic religion based on an antiquated arcane book.
Some of the specific reasons that people reject the Christian gospel include the following;
1. The Bible claims all people are sinners and the “unsaved” will be thrown into a lake of fire. This statement is indeed true, based on Romans 3:23 which states “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of Elohim (God).”1 And Revelation 20:15, which states “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” To those with their own set of moral standards they see this as both immoral and malicious.
2. Their willful ignorance of the general revelation of the existence of Elohim (God), as well as their presuppositions of the historicity of Scripture.
3. Perhaps the most detrimental reason for rejecting the gospel is based upon their own observations of individuals who claim to be Christian. They observe us doing much of the same things in which they do. Inappropriate humor, drunkenness, uncharitable behavior towards others, un-forgiveness, and an overall lack of joy which we claim Yeshua (Jesus) brings to His followers, to name a few.
So this brings us to what can Christians to to address these objections as well as communicate the Gospel to our culture. We can start with the eradication of our own ignorance. Scripture gives us a plethora of admonishments, such as Paul’s words in Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of Elohim (God).” We see this expounded upon in 2 Timothy 2:15 in which the Apostle Paul writes “Study to shew thyself approved unto Elohim (God), a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” Our minds are transformed by the studying of the Holy Scriptures (the Bible), which reveals our own sinfulness and reveals the very character of a Holy God. We can, and should, learn the absolute historicity of Scripture, as well as the life, death, and bodily resurrection of Adonai Yeshua Hamashiach (our Lord Jesus Christ).
As we study both Scripture and world-views we enable ourselves to be better equipped to Scripturally refute erroneous objections. This also supports the importance of being aware of what is going on in the world, even when most of the information provided is from a biased prospective. Read your Bible, each and every writer of each book in The Bible clearly shows that the writers were aware of what was going on in the world. As we used to say in the Army, Be All You Can Be, this includes not being ignorant of world events. We will be able to prove Christianity is not “another religion,” but an intimate relationship with an all powerful, all knowing, loving, intimate El (God), the creator of everything. We can reasonably, rationally and factually present His giving each man and woman a choice to accept His gift of love, life, peace, and joy.
After reading several post on Facebook, and receiving e-mails, regarding Joyce Meyer, I am compelled to post this blog. The source of the information about Mrs. Myer comes from man who has an audio teaching online. I’m not going to mention him by name because I do not want to skew anyone’s opinion of him one way or the other.
The man [radio host] states that we are to “test all things, examine the prophets, and rightly divide the word of truth, and test the spirits.” He goes on to say that he is testing Mrs. Myer’s doctrine, but not judging her “because only God knows her heart.” When we judge someone and then say, “I’m not judging them, only God knows their heart,” is this true so? Does that statement provide some kind of magical effect that nullifies what we are in fact doing? One of the [radio host's] lectors’ main focuses is Ms. Myer’s teaching about Jesus going to hell. This is not a new doctrine, I seem to recall reading about it myself in a Jimmy Swaggart study I did a [couple of] few decades ago. I’m unable to confirm this at the time, that study is in someone else’s possession. The man also mentions Benny Hinn, Frederick Price, Kenneth Copeland, and Kenneth Haggin.
I’m not going to get into the “doctrines” of Mrs. Myer, or any other televangelist. The supposed revelations concerning her are not new. I’ve read them online myself years ago, and have discussed them in depth with other believers. I’m also not going to discuss any teachings, or question the character of, the other televangelist, which he [radio host] names. I have not watched, nor listened to, any of the speakers for years (because of my own “judgments”). I have at one time listened to all of them and/or read books written by them.
Here is an interesting note to think about concerning someone I personally know, and my family lived with for almost six months. She is the same lady mentioned in my last blog. She’s an elderly lady, mid seventies, who’s been to Israel, China, and the Philippines as a Christian missionary. In each country God has given her an instant ability to speak the native language of each country while telling the locals about Jesus. She thought she was speaking in English but others who heard her stated they could not understand her because she was speaking in another language. Yes, I know one of them who was there with her. I’ve yet to meet someone so devoted to God and one who prays with such power [as this woman does]. She is nearly 80 and yet I’ve never met anyone with such a childlike faith. She literally believes everything God says, go figure. I only mention her because she listens to each one of the televangelist mentioned above. Food for thought.
[Anyway] Some time ago, while discussing Mrs. Myer with a friend, the following happened to me. Each time he (my friend) brought her up I could clearly hear the Holy Spirit telling me “stop this conversation.” Several times I tried to change the conversation, I even told him that the Holy Spirit had just told me “stop this conversation.” This went on over the course of a couple of weeks. Finally I responded, telling him what the Holy Spirit was telling me. I will share those with you now. The first thing Holy Spirit told me was “touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.”1 My friend asked me if I really thought that Mrs. Meyer was “anointed?” Well, she has helped thousands of women to have a godly viewpoint of themselves. She’s helped feed and clothe thousands around the world. She tries to teach people to get the know Jesus, to trust in Him, and to see themselves as sitting with Him in Heavenly places.2 So, in a word, yes, I do. I didn’t die for Joyce, Jesus did. She doesn’t go around teaching about Daniel (me), she teaches about Jesus. Is she absolutely correct in everything she teaches? No. Who is? Oh ya, I know who, Jesus. Only God is ALWAYS correct. The Spirit then stated for me to share with him, “Who art thou the judge just another mans servant? To his own master he standeth or falleth,”3 “why dost thou judge thy brother?” “For you will all stand before the judgment seat of Messiah.”4 So did my friend agree with me? Nope. Does it matter? No. It hurt my heart, because I felt it hurt the Holy Spirit’s heart. Yeshua (Jesus) reminded me, “A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and in his own house.”5 How many times has each of us tried to share with those closest to us something the Lord had put in our heart and it was not received? When people, all of us, want more Truth God is always ready to give it. When people don’t want Truth, they won’t receive Truth. What really matters is that we are obedient to our Lord, The King.
Do not believe everything you read online, anyone can say absolutely anything they want and post it all over the World Wide Web. This does not make it truth. I know a local schoolteacher who doesn’t allow her students to use Wikipedia as a reference source. Why? Because anyone can submit their “opinions” to them. We cannot make factual beliefs or statements based on hearsay. Pray and search for yourself. What I’m writing now doesn’t make it “true.” It’s only true as I see it. I can’t convince anyone, that’s The Holy Spirits job. Like the old saying goes, “convince a man against his will and he is of the same mind still” (something like that). I’m not saying Mrs. Meyer’s didn’t say the things she the man on the online radio states she said. I’m just stating that I haven’t heard them myself. I don’t know him [radio hos], let alone trust him. I’ve heard [similar] the same things lately about Jack Van Impe and Jack Chick (Chick Tracts guy). What did I do? I listened to some Mr. Van Impe to hear for myself and called Chick tracts to confirm what was said about him online (it was that he was dead, he wasn’t). My conclusions; each time I discovered [that] what was being said by “christians” was in fact falsehood. Funny, I seem to recall in Scripture [that] the “Bible Scholars” [made] making the same statements about Yeshua (Jesus). Why not just trust them? They were the “scholars” after all. Because, Yeshua is truth.6 Remember, Yeshua said, “for with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you meet, it shall be measured to you again.”7
Do you remember in the Gospel of Mark, when John told Jesus that they saw someone casting out devils in Jesus name, [one] who didn’t follow them, so they rebuked the person because he didn’t follow Jesus and his disciples?8 What was Jesus response? “But Jesus said, forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is on our part.”9 It seems to me that Yeshua didn’t call us to be so judgmental of one another. My Bible states that that’s how Satan keeps himself busy. HaSatan (English–the Adversary) keeps himself busy doing this himself, day and night.10 Personally, the only thing I want the devil and I to have in common is this [that] we cannot stand each other. He would be terrified of us [christians] if we lived as though we were really sons and daughters of God. Since Jesus is called the only begotten son of God,11 and we are the children of God, heirs of God, and joint heirs with Messiah,12 we would do well to strive to be more like Messiah, and less like Satan.
In this respect our focus shouldn’t be [on judging] others, our focus should be [on judging] ourselves. Messiah said, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”13 He didn’t say anything about adding weight to anyone else’s cross, let alone nailing them to it. Do we teach others and not teach ourselves? Do we preach not to steal and then steal? Do we say don’t commit adultery and then commit adultery?14 The Scriptures teaches us that if we even think about these things, in our hearts we have done them.15
Messiah stated, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in my name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thine name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.”16 So, is Joyce Meyer one of them? Is she a “worker of iniquity?” I personally don’t think so. I’ve listened to many hours of her speaking over the years and never heard her say anything [Biblically speaking] that I would consider “unsound doctrine.” But it doesn’t really matter. Jesus didn’t call me to be Joyce Meyer’s disciple, nor did he call any of us to make disciples of ourselves. He has however called all of us to make disciples of Him.17 He tells us to teach others to observe all things he has commanded.18 “A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another.”19 Jesus pointed out some “doctrinal errors” of the Pharisees, but this was not even close to His main focus, nor is it why He became a man and came to Earth. His focus was Yahweh and why He came to live as an example, and then die, for the payment of our sins in order to re-establish an opportunity for each individual to have a personal relationship with The Father.
Please do not think that I am not including myself here regarding being judgmental, quite the opposite. The Lord has dealt with me many times on my judgmental attitude, especially concerning His children. They are His, not mine. I’m also not a proponent of Joyce Meyer. I stopped watching TBN because of my own judgmental attitude years ago. Each of usalways has a tendency to think we know how things should be done, or that we know a better way. All that really matters is that we now The Way, personally. If you feel Mrs. Myer is an error then pray for her. I would hope you would not have the audacity to think that she is wrong based on your own opinions. We are all a stiff-necked and rebellious people. Only God is always right, all the time. So pray for her to have a closer relationship with Jesus, but not [for her] to think more like you do. I’ve fallen into this trap myself, mainly with my eldest daughter. I have learned that just because she doesn’t think like me doesn’t make her wrong. For one, men and women think differently. For two, there are over two decades separating us in age. It would be a sad statement concerning me physically, socially, and spiritually, if I thought the same as someone who is more than half my age. Just as sad would be the expectation of her thinking the same as I do. So rather than expecting others to think like we do, let us pray that they, as well as ourselves, develop the mind of Messiah.
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Adon (Lord)
and Savior Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah).
To Him be glory both now and for ever. II Kefa 3:18

Five years ago my family and I lived with an elderly couple for a few months in Spokane Washington. This couple had been conducting a weekly Bible study in their home. This is a brief synopsis about the husband of one of the couples which had been attending the study prior to, and during, our living there.
Let me share with you a brief background. I am a former California Highway Patrol Officer. The man in the story was a death row inmate, imprisoned for killing a California Highway Patrol Officer. I was aware of what he had been convicted of. He was unaware of my knowledge concerning this, as the couple we were living with felt he would tell me when he was ready. While on death row this man was next in line to be executed. He would often mop the floor around the electric chair in which he was scheduled to die in. Due to a judicial error he was released after serving over twenty years on the mile.
Prior to our arrival in Spokane the couple leading the study had informed him of my being a former CHP Officer. This caused him to be extremely nervous regarding how I would treat him if or when I found out about his past. I had asked Adonai (the Lord) to give me a Godly love for this man, after all, he is my brother. He did, even to the point of my heart aching for the torment my brother must have been experiencing every week when he and his wife came over for Bible study.
During one of these Bible studies I felt completely overwhelmed with a sense of the shadow of darkness over the man. Though it is hard to explain I felt as though the man was going to die, that night. I kept hearing the Holy Spirit whispering to me to tell him “we forgive you.” It seemed odd to me that Adonai (the Lord) would be telling me to say “we forgive you” rather than “I forgive you.” After all, who was I to speak for the entire CHP. Even though I truly loved the man and my heart even aching for him, he was still the murderer of one of my fellow highway patrol officers. Bible study ended and he and his wife left. I said nothing.
As he walked out the door my eldest daughter, who was fifteen at the time, started crying. I asked her what was wrong and she said “daddy, I think Mr. R. is going to die tonight.” It shook me to the core that she had just stated exactly what I had been feeling all evening. I ran outside and caught him and his wife in their vehicle before they had driven off. I knelt next to his car window and informed him that the Lord had told me to tell him “we forgive you.” He began crying and told me the story of his life at the time of the murder, the murder itself, and his imprisonment. He shared about giving his heart to Jesus (Yeshua) while in prison and told me he was very sorry for what he had done. Crying with him, I told him again “we forgive you.” It was extremely difficult for me to grasp the Lord enabling me, as a type of spiritual ambassador for the California Highway Patrol, to speak as such to this man and give “our” forgiveness. I am in tears now just sharing this now and remembering, not the crime but the look of joy in his eyes when I told him we forgive him and the overwhelming sense of Peace that overcame the three of us at his vehicle. GOD IS AWESOME!
This man had been in torment for his crime for many years and now had Peace. The shadow of darkness I had been feeling was replaced with an overwhelming presence of the Spirit of The Most High God, Elyon. There is nothing that our Wonderful Daddy won’t do for His children. That is Agape! That is unconditional love, Papa’s love. He never ceases to amaze me. Although our time living in Washington was extremely difficult, that one incident made it all worth it. If Adonai (the Lord) uprooted my family, moving us from Southern California to Spokane, just for this man, it was worth it. I am honored. Yes, sometimes forgiveness is difficult to grasp. His love is so great I am unable to really comprehend it at times. Awesome! A word I personally reserve just for Him. Todah Adonai, todah. Thank You Lord, thank You. You are AWESOME!
Yochanan (John) 13:34-35 – A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Happy Yom Teruah! Last night (Sep 8th) was the start of The Feast of Yahweh known as day of Trumpets/Shouting -Leviticus 23:24. יום מאושר התרועה
I meant to get this post on Wednesday, but didn’t get home until sunset. But as many of you already know, sunset yesterday (Wednesday Sep 8th) was the first of Tishri and thereby the first day of Yom Teruah. This is the fifth of the seven feast of Yahweh. They are erroneously referred to as Jewish Feast, predominantly because they are only celebrated by Jews, but they are in fact Yahweh’s Feast.
I know many of you are anxiously looking for Yeshua to call us home during this time, that is after all the fulfillment of this Feast. However, the point of this Feast is not for us to be looking to escape the world. Adonai (the Lord) wants you in the world, that’s why you’re still here. If He wanted you home, you’d be home. Keep in mind that this Feast was established by Yahweh almost 3500 years ago. As recorded in Leviticus 23:23-25 – Yahweh (the LORD) spake unto Moses saying, speak unto the children of Israel, saying, in the seventh month (Tishri), and the first day of the month, show you have a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets (shofar), and holy convocation. You shall do no servile work therein: but you shall offer an offering made by fire unto Yahweh (LORD).
Over the centuries this Feast has grown to be considered the holiest time of the year and is often referred to as Rosh Hashanah (head of the year), or New Year’s Day. You’ll find that typically most Jews look at this as a very solemn time which proceeds the holiest day of all – Yom Kippur-The Day of Atonement. This is a time when atonement (forgiveness) from Yahweh is sought. Indeed for uncompleted Jews it is a solemn time. For Leviticus 17:11 states – For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
There is no temple in Jerusalem. There is no Cohen Gadol (High Priest) to offer sacrifice to atone for sins. So indeed it is a solemn time. But for a completed Jew, such as I, and many of you, as well as my goyim brother and sisters… it is a joyous day! It is indeed a time for blowing the shofar and shouting! For we have been atoned! Our debt has been paid! Romans 5:8-11 states the following, – but Yahweh [God] commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Messiah died for us. Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to Yahweh [God] by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only so, but we also joy in Yahweh [God] to Adonai Yeshua HaMashiach (our Lord Jesus Christ), by whom we have now received the ATONEMENT.
So as you think about this Feast of Yahweh, and celebrated in whatever way Adonai (the Lord) leads you, remember why he gave us this Feast. Not for us to look for an escape, (our escape will come when He chooses) but to thank Him for atoning for our sin and adopting us as His sons and His daughters.
I want to share something my daughter shared with me earlier today. Adonai spoke to her today and told her “I am coming.” With excitement she expected at any moment. The point wasn’t “Now,” but that He is indeed coming. He then asked her, “What is your offering?” The question is for us all. This is a time for us to present to Him the fruit of our labor. We expect the rapture because we are the fruit of Yeshua’s labor. But He is expecting fruit from ours. He told her He is coming for a “Pure Bride.” Are you pure? Have you been laboring in His field? Do you have a harvest to present to The King? Do I? What are you doing when no one is watching?
So be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth with the light of Messiah –to the Glory of Yahweh and the bringing of praise to His Name.
Shalom
Went to the top of the mountain overlooking where I live today with two of Yahweh’s children. We prayed, we shouted, we blew the trumpet. Yeshua is Lord!
In Mattityahu (Matthew) 28:18–19 Yeshua states the following; 18And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Teach all, means to make disciples. Make disciples of whom? Yeshua (Jesus). Regrettably, though this sounds harsh, during my nearly 20 years of being a follower of Messiah I’ve found this rarely happens. Sometimes purposely, sometimes not. Mankind tends to want to make disciples of themselves, their organization, institution, or denomination. But this blog is to give a shout out to one who does disciple others to become disciples of The Messiah, my first Shepherd. A man who had a greater influence on me than any Christian I’ve met. Pastor Jim Reid.
When Adonai Yeshua (the Lord Jesus) first saved me I didn’t know where to go to church. I’d been raised Catholic, but I found there is much more to Elohim (God) than what I had learned there. I discovered that God loved me individually and wanted to have a personal, intimate loving relationship with me. So I started going to every church in town. I told the Lord that I would keep going to different churches until He told me where to stay. After four or five churches I visited Calvary First Assembly of God. Assembly of God meant nothing to me, nor even did the word Calvary yet for that matter. The first Sunday of went there, plain as day, I heard the Lord say “stay.” And this is where I met my first Pastor, Pastor Jim.
Every single thing that Pastor Reid taught me, he told me where to look it up in Scripture. He also told me not to take his word for it, or any other person’s word for it, but to search God’s Word on my own and to ask God to reveal His Word and it’s Truth. That’s exactly what I did. Pastor Reid told me only God is perfect and incapable of making a mistake. Only God knows everything and always has my best at heart. Discipleship is extremely important to me, as you probably gathered from my website, and I know this largely due to my first Pastor. Pastor Reid taught me that although Yeshua (Jesus) commands all men to make disciples, He (Jesus) intended for us to make disciples of Adonai Yeshua (the Lord Jesus).
Pastor Reid, I cannot thank you enough for your wise teaching and Godly instruction. I cannot tell you the number of times that this instruction has benefited me. Numerous times during my walk I heard teaching, or doctrine, that for some reason unknown to me at the time, did not set well and my spirit. Each time I’ve brought this to the Lord’s attention, and humbly asked for His help in knowing His Truth. He has ALWAYS answered. ALWAYS. And when the Lord answers you, you know that you know that you know. You KNOW!
Pastor Reid, I thank you for being a good shepherd. More importantly, I thank – Abba our Daddy, and our Glorious Great Shepherd – Yeshua! Starting from the very beginning of my rebirth, Adonai (the Lord) has placed me where I needed to be, put me under who I needed to be under, and ensured that I would be taught to seek Him first. The Lord has used me in ways I never thought imaginable, and to be a blessing to more than I thought possible. This is because of your teaching me my first steps when I was but a babe. Which means it’s because you were humble and obedient to Eloheynu (our God). Todah Rob-ah! Thank you very much! I know you have prayed for me and my family numerous times over the years. Know that those prayers have been answered, are being answered, and will be answered – To the glory of Yahweh our Father and Adonai Yeshua HaMashiach!
My prayer for you Pastor Jim, best said in Yahweh’s own Words;
What do you call the fruits and vegetables at the grocery store? Produce. Where do they come from? Seeds. An apple comes from what type of seed? An apple seed of course. Oranges? Orange seeds. Lettuce? Lettuce seeds. Everything produces after it’s seed, rather it reproduces after it’s kind (Gen 1:11-12).
What does Elohim call the substance of man which reproduces after our kind (Gen 1:28)? Seed, from husband, planted in wife, which reproduces after our kind. Seed is also the term Elohim uses when referring to the result of our consummation, our children. So we see the seed of man reproduces mankind.
So what is one term for The Word of Yahweh (the LORD)? His seed, as stated by Yeshua in Luke 8:11 – Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of Yahweh (God). How do we get The Word, the Seed of Adonai (the Lord) into us so it may reproduce? Prayer (asking Yeshua into our hearts) and reading/meditating on His Word, The Bible/Scripture.
As stated in Phillipians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Psalm 119:11Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 1:2But his delight is in the Torah (law) of Yahweh (the LORD); and in his Torah (law) doth he meditate day and night. 3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
So if the Word of Yahweh is seed, what should it reproduce? In a word, Godliness. More specifically, the fruit of The Spirit - 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
There some seed which we haven’t discussed, the seed of HaSatan, the adversary. What are some things we plant in ourselves which are satan’s seed, things in which we meditate on? Secular music? Movies? Magazines and books? Video games? Let’s be honest with ourselves, practicing paganism. These are things which I personally have been convicted of. After all, what do they reproduce, or do they reproduce at all? Of course they reproduce, all seed reproduces – after it’s kind. Don’t they reproduce fruit of the flesh as stated in Galatians 5:19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of Elohim (God).
My sister discussed with me how things seemed to be difficult for her lately. I found she was listening to some country musician and one of his songs was titled something like “tequila gets her dress off faster.” Gee, seems like the reason satan was causing her difficulties is because she was planting his seed in herself. When you really think about seed, do you really want to allow satan to plant his seed in you? I know I don’t. The cd was broken thrown in the trash, just like Papa (God) has to do with my things sometimes. Sometimes a lot.
What is one of the main things you have to do to have a fruitful garden? You’ve got to till the soil, break up that fallow ground. See Jeremiah 4:3 and Hosea 10:12 where Yahweh (the LORD) tells us to break up our fallow ground. If we don’t till the soil our seeds won’t be able to properly root. The result will be, no production of fruit.
While we’re waiting for our gardens to produce we have to water, fertilize, and weed. Weeds, now that makes me think of satan’s fruit. Notice how easy weeds grow? They grow everywhere, they seem to thrive even without water and even in untilled ground. What do they produce for us? Nothing! They make more weeds but they grow nothing we can eat. Ever canned weeds? Of course not. And why is it that weeds grow so easily, so rapidly and without any effort, yet the seeds we plant seem to take forever? And our seedlings are so fragile, don’t dare let them freeze or they’ll die. Why wont the weeds die? That would sure make gardening easier. But no, our seeds have to be nurtured, well watered, but not overwatered, gently kept free of weeds and fertilized. But we do it, if we want a harvest we do it.
Doesn’t it seem that the seed of Elohim (God) grows very slowly in us? The seeds of the world grow in us like gangbusters, with little or no effort on our part. So it appears that we must nurture Adonai’s (the Lord’s) seed within us, and constantly ask Him, the Husbandman, to pull the seeds of the world out of us.
The parable of seeds is this, 5A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. 6And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. 7And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. 8And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 9And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? 10And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 11Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 14And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. (Luke 8:5-15)
John 15:1-5, 8 - 1I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
8Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
How often do you see or hear something that so fills you with joy you can hardly sleep. Or makes you want to just shout it from the rooftops. Like falling in love with my beloved wife, I was always talking about her to my peers. And then when I met Messiah, talk about falling head over heals in love! Wow! I had to tell everybody. Well something I watched last night, rather this morning, stirred up those bubbly feelings of warm fuzziness.
I started watching this video from youtube early this morning, although I really needed to get to bed. Well five hours later I just had to get up, I couldn’t stop thinking about it and how excited I was. I still am obviously.
Maybe it has something to do with “to whom much is given, much is required.” Admittitly, I’ve been given much, as have we all, so I know Adonai (Lord/Master) requires much. What an awesome honor! El Echad atta papa, Daddy you are an Awesome God! Had to give Big Daddy a shout out, you know how it is. He’s so good.
So anyway, the video is mainly about the world, the government, Bilderbergs, Trilateral Commission, Counsel of Foreign Relations, the world banking system/economy, etcetera. Things most of us already know about, if we’re not living with our heads in the sand so to speak. I mean no insult if that applies to you, we’re all ignorant of something.
The video filled me with incredible excitement. Talk about having your joy stirred up. It’s so marvelous, so astoundingly breathtaking when you see the Words of Scripture (The Holy Bible) being lived out. I tell you, watching the video was like watching a picture Bible show. Incredible. I just can’t help but be overjoyed at it all. How many generations have waited for what we are blessed to observe? All of them.
I’m having different feelings inside of me as a result.
The king in me thinks of how to fight and protect my family. How to defend what I’m entrusted with. Psalm 82:3 comes to mind, Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Do I follow the Psalmist example? Do I follow King David’s example? Do I want to be like David? Is he my example to follow?
The priest in me is overjoyed with the fulfilling of Yahweh’s Word as it continues to come to life and it’s fulfillment on our planet. I rejoice to see His Kingdom coming and long for His Rulership over His earth.
As recorded by Z’kharyah (Zechariah) 12:8-9 In that day shall Yahweh (the LORD) defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as Elohim (God), as the angel of Yahweh (the LORD) before them. And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
The prophet in me causes my heart to ache for the residents of the world and to be used by Yeshua to draw those in darkness into His glorious Light. My heart goes out to the world, yet so longs for my King, The King. Yet I must allow Adonai, Yeshua (Lord/Master-Jesus) to use me to redirect them from the highway they are on. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matt 7:13-14
Please don’t misunderstand, I’m not claiming any of those titles, merely my positional authority in my home.
So which do I follow? Which is correct? One or all? Do I take up the sword like David? Tell me, why was David not allowed to build a Temple for Yahweh? Did it have something to do with blood on his hands, even though it was in obedience to Elohim? What’s the Temple of Yahweh now? We know that the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the goyim (gentiles). 1 Cor 3:16 tells us we are;
Know ye not that ye are the temple of Elohim (God), and that the Spirit of Elohim (God) dwelleth in you?
And why did Messiah tell us to take our swords? What did He mean when He said in Matt 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword? Does it by chance have anything to do with Heb 4:12 For the word of Yahweh (LORD/God) is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Or maybe Revelation 19:15 – And out of His (Yeshua’s/Jesus’) mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of El Shaddai (Almighty God). Food for thought.
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. And they that are [belong to] Messiah’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:18, 24-25
Which is walking in the flesh and which is walking in The Spirit, or are they indistinguishable? You have access to the same Elohim (God) I do, ask Him yourself. I have my answer. Of course when it all comes down to it it’s Yeshua, the answer to all questions.
For all the nay sayers out there who disbelieve the Holy Scriptures (Bible-B’rit Yeshanah and B’rit Chadashah – Old and New Covenants/Testaments). Everything, and I do mean everything, going on in the world today and discussed in the youtube video is in Scripture. You say it’s man made and outdated. You say it can’t be trusted or believed. Are you nuts? Probably not, just willfully ignorant. (see Acts 17:30). I’ve compared my Bible, printed in 1984, with the Scriptures translated into english in 1611, referred to as the Authorized Version and also known as the King James Version. Guess what, the copies of antiquity and mine match. So if what is going on in the world matches exactly with my Bible, printed the 80’s, and that matches what was printed in the 1600’s which match ancient copies thousands of years old, the guess what. His Word is Truth. His Word is FACT. His Word will never cease to be. NEVER! It can and should always be trusted. After all, El Hay (the Living God) is the only One we can trust, everyday, all the time.
I encourage you to take the time and watch the video, even if you have to do it in segments. Perhaps you’ll be as exited as I. It may depend on where your treasure is (which has little to do with me and everything to do with Him), as Yeshua (Jesus) stated in Mattityahu (Matthew) 6:21 - For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Being the very definition of Truth He can only speak what He knows and what He is, Truth.
I would not have you ignorant brethren (1Ths 4:13) (Acts 9:18). Here are a few of the verses which Adonai brought to my remembrance, maybe they’ll bless you as they are blessing me.
Do as Avraham – For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is Elohim (God). Heb 11:10
As Yeshua states – Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Luke 21:26, 28
He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. Yochanan (John) 3:29
And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroomcometh; go ye out to meet him. Mattityahu (Matt) 25:6
Elohai, Oh my God, how can you, being so big, care for us who are so small? Will I ever understand You? Yes, I believe I will. Is not that what You mean when You state in 1 Cor 13:12 “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.”
Next year in Jerusalem?
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is a thirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Revelation 22:17
I can smell the sweet scent of the Sweet Rose of Sharon as He pursues me. I feel His presence in my very breath as He encircles me with His love. He won’t relent until He has it all, all of me. Adonai, my heart is yours.
This is NOT the video I was talking about above but this is the result of what is in my heart and what Yeshua has allowed me to share. Todah Adonai. I love you Papa.
The last week or so Adonai (the Lord) has really been pointing out to me one of the reasons we (the Bride) have so many problems during our walk and a weak witness. We keep trying. That’s it, we keep trying. Where in Scripture does it tell us to try?
About a week ago a young adult Christian brother was talking to me regarding the appearance “feelings” between him and my little sister. He spoke about how girls don’t see things they way we guys to and misinterpret when a guy is “nice” to them and they think that means we (guys) have feelings for them. Needless to say his blaming my sister ticked me off. Thankfully I was praying the whole time he was talking and could hear the Holy Spirit telling me to be kind, don’t react to your feelings, and love him regardless of how you feel, he’s my son just as you are. Todah Adonai (thank you Lord) for doing in me what I don’t want to do naturally.
I won’t get into too much detail about how much I hate sexist comments like that. After all, Yeshua (Jesus) is called The Son of Man (Matt8:20), He was born of a woman (Gen 3:15, Matt 1:18). Not to mention none of us would exist without a father and a mother. Sexism is just destructive to society, period.
Anyway, I explained to this young man that it wasn’t a “guy, girl” thing, both genders flirt with each other. The problem is sin and our following our sinful nature. I shared about a time I was flirting with a woman and the Holy Spirit spoke into me asking, would you be doing this if your wife was standing here with you? Of course not, that would hurt her feelings. Point taken, just stop. He wanted to justify his flirting with so many girls as “just being nice and opening up my heart.” Lame lame lame. I stated that Yeshua (Jesus) was nice to women and opened His heart to all but nowhere in the Gospels do we see Him ever “flirting” with women or giving them or anyone else the impression He had physical attraction towards any of them. You can be nice to the opposite sex without flirting with them. I’m nice to women all the time, with my beloved by my side at times, she’d tell me if I was flirting with them. I won’t.
He explained to me that he was trying to be a godly young man. My response? Where does God (Elohim) tell us in His Word to try? I keep hearing different versions of a favorite verse of mine, Joshua 1:9, where it just states “Fear not….” That’s not what I’ve read, in my english KJV, nor in Hebrew. It states “Have not I commanded you…” This is Yahweh (The LORD) speaking to Joshua. Yahweh is not asking Joshua, He’s not suggesting to Joshua, He’s not making a recommendation to Joshua. He is COMMANDING Joshua! As He does throughout His Word. He’s El Shaddai, Almighty God, His Word is a command! Throughout Scripture He commands.
Our problem is we try to be holy, we try not to sin, we try not to look at prn, we try not to lust, we try not to walk in our flesh. We try try try try try. El Hay (The Living God) does not tell us to try, He tells us to do……..period. When we try, we are walking in our flesh, following the old man – (Ephesians 4:22) That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
Doesn’t sound like a request to me. How about to you?
But when we just do, when we realize this;
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him (Messiah), that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. (Rom 6:6).
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; (Col 3:9).
When we DO, we are allowing Elohim (God) to DO through us and in us. We are obeying His Word. His Word is alive, His Word is power, His Word is Light, His Word is Life. When we do, we are empowered by Him because we are obeying Him. The power is ever present and unstoppable, when we do.
Luke 9:23 – And he (Yeshua/Jesus) said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
I’d like to take a refreshing look at a very familiar verse. Elohim (God) has really been speaking this to me the last few weeks, and for good reason (as all His reasons are of course). What really prompted Him was something I lied about to a group of other Believers, as well as some marital issues going on with a friend of mine and his wife.”
I was with a group of believers and everyone was talking about what they listen to on long drives when their all alone. After some of them answered I was surprised of the response of listening to secular music. I was sitting there thinking about answering truthfully and how my answer would affect their thoughts about me. I basically lied about listening to secular music, specifically jazz. I implied that I frequently listen to jazz. Although I do like jazz, I probably listen to it maybe two times a year and then only for about 20 minutes before my spirit says “worship Elyon (The Most High God). So truthfully, I mainly listen to Bible teaching/preaching podcast by a couple of my favorite teachers, Jack Hayford and Derek Prince, listed on intheredletters.comlink’s page on the bottom left, and worship music. But I’d lied all the same. Funny how we do that, pretend to do or be something we’re not for other people, and for a variety of reasons. I’m not going to discuss the reasons here, no, mainly just the verse the Lord spoke into my spirit and how we (me) go one way or the other. So the question is; Are we Conformed or Transformed?
Rom 12:1 – I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God (Elohim), that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God (Elohim), which is your reasonable service. 2 – And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Elohim).
So I’ve been thinking about myself, the Bride, and examples in Scripture and whether I’m Conforming or Transforming. I’ve either been all these, or am in one place or the other now. Where are you? Conformed (to the world and it’s way of thinking )? Or Transformed (to Elohim and His Way of thinking – having the Mind of Messiah 1Cor 2:16b)? As King David wrote in the first Psalm, vs 1-2, Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the Torah (Law) of Yahweh (the LORD); and in his Torah (Law) doth he meditate day and night. Torah (teaching or instruction, translated into English as Law); that which shows The Way to live and to please Yahweh (the LORD), and to fulfill it. We can not think wrong and live right, nor can we think right and live wrong (Gal 5:16). Our thinking determines the course of our lives (Gal 5:25).
I’ll briefly list some thoughts here, I hope to have them in more detail under Discipleship on the main web page within the week. Then the entire verses listed below will visible for those who not have the time to look them up themselves.
C=Conformed Mind T=Transformed Mind
C-ask Yahweh (the LORD) why aren’t you working in my life?
T-stirs up his/her gift Elohim (God) has placed inside themselves. 2 Tim1:6
C-gets tired of waiting on the LORD (YHVH/Yahweh) and turns to their own ways. Exo 32:7-8 – golden calf.
T-refuses to let go of Adonai (the Lord) until He receives a blessing, no matter the cost. Gen 32:24-26 – Jacob wrestling with Adonai (the Lord).
C-thinks they have enough of God already “stored up.” Lk 12:19
T-keeps digging into the limitless knowledge and presence of the eternal limitless El (God) Isa 55:9.
C-seeks counsel from young friends like King Rehoboam, which encourage you to be selfish and foolish in your decisions. 1Kgs 12:9-11 – led to the division of the Kingdom of an entire nation, Israel.
T-seeks wise Godly counsel from those more knowledgeable and experienced than themselves, as Moses received from his father in law Jethro Exo 18:19-24.
C-braggs, is pridefull. Gen 37:5 Joseph bragging about the dreams Elohim was giving him.
T-keeps some things to themselves and treasures them. Lk 2:19 Miryam (Mary) – Yeshua’s (Jesus’) momma.
C-whines about the situation they are in.
T-Praises Elohim for their situation, even if the’ve been betrayed by those closest to them. Gen 50:20 – Joseph speaking to his brothers after years of slavery and imprisonment.
C-are glad they’re not like others, sinners, those worse than themselves. Lk 18:11-12 – the Pharisee (GK-pharisaios, presbyteros/Elder).
T-knows he/she must call on Elohim for His mercy, that they’d not receive what they deserve, but would receive what they don’t. Lk 18:13 the publican.
C-the more I see the more I want. Pro 27:20
T-are content with what they have. Heb 13:5
C-fears man and mans opinion of them. Jno 9:22 the healed blind mans parents, fearing being kicked out of the Synagogue (Church) for speaking Truth.
T-Fears (reverently) El Hay (the Living God), and chooses rather to obey Him. Acts 5:29 Kefa (Peter) after being imprisoned by the religious “leaders” for speaking Truth.
C-doubt if and/or when Messiah is going to return. 2Kefa/Pet 3:4 – Peter writing to Christians, about Christians in the last days.
T-not only are expecting Messiahs return, but are anxiously awaiting it. 2 Tim 4:8 – Paul stating we have crowns waiting to be placed on our heads.
C-is a lustful, adulteress murdering mind.
T-acknowledges their sin and repents – turns about face (180), back to God and away from their sinful desires. Lk 13:3, Acts 3:19, 17:30.
C-wants Adonai (the Lord) to judge and punish. Jonah 1:3, running from his duty to obey Yahweh (the LORD) in telling Nineveh to repent, lest they be destroyed.
T-includes themselves in their nations sins and ask Elohim (God) for mercy. Dan 9:3-19 – Daniel begging to Yahweh Eloheynu (the LORD our God) for mercy for his and his peoples sins.
C-have bought into the modern day lie that there is more than one way to Heaven/God. Matt 7:13 broad is the way that leads to the hot lake.
T-knows Yeshua (Jesus) and He ALONE is THE ONLY WAY to Heaven/God. Matt 7:14 – narrow is the way, Jno 14:6 – Yeshua states plainly that He is THE ONLY WAY!
C-questions just what it is that God has said (mainly from not knowing Him, His Word, and His Voice). Gen 3:1 – the serpent (HaSatan-the adversary) asking Eve “hath Elohim said…?”
T-knows the Shepherds voice (Jno 10:27) and call out to him “Here am I, send me.” Isa 6:8.
C- wants a counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist or some other medical professional to deliver/heal them.
T-seeks Yeshua for healing and deliverance. Interesting note; we have no examples in Scripture of anyone being healed by any doctor, but multitudes being healed by Ad0nai (the Lord). Also interesting note; In Exodus 15:26 Elohim (God) states “I am Yahweh (the LORD) that healeth thee.” The same word “healeth” is the modern hebrew word for Doctor. Somewhere we exchanged Him for man. Too bad
C-only sees with their physical eyes and looks at the visible world around them.
T-sees not only with the physical, but sees also the spiritual. I heard a story on Focus On The Family (bottom right of links page), in which a witch doctor in the Rain Forest not only knew who Yahweh is, but told the missionary “I know who you serve, the enemy, the One who sits on that Throne that has the river flowing out of it.” He not only knows who El Hay (Living God) is, but has seen His Throne. We should be jealous, and more seeking in our relationship with Adonai.
C-man/woman flirts with others (whether we’re already married or not).
T-keeps himself/herself clean and shuns all appearance of evil (1Ths 5:22). When the former NBA basketball player David “The Admiral” Robinson (a follower of Messiah/Christ) of the San Antonio Spurs was asked why he was so rude to female fans his response was incredible. He stated, “if someone is going to get their feelings hurt, it’s not going to be my wife. That’s transformed!
C-Thinks their parents owe them something or that when they doing something for their parents it’s a “gift.” Mark 7:11
T-Honors their Father and Mother, not because they are right, but because Elohim is and has promised blessings for it. Eph 6:1-2.
C-sins and doubt the rain (judgement) is coming. The Flood
T-Builds an Ark (is prepared-obeys the voice of Adonai).
C-laughs when Adonai promises the impossible. Gen 18:12 Sara laughed when she heard she was going to be a mother, since she was 90 years old, well past conception age.
T-says “be it unto me according to thy word.” Miryam (Mary) when told that although she was a virgin she was to give birth to a child. Luk 1:38
C-senses no urgency, or even slight obedience, to the Great Commission. Matt 28:19 How many times do we not share the Gospel with others? Maybe we just don’t think it’s “Good News.”
T-not only senses the urgency, but even if they don’t realize the Great Commission wasn’t a request to some, but a Command to all.
C-is lazy, looks, lust, deceives, and even kills if necessary to get what he/she wants. 2Sam 11:2-4, 8, 15, 17. David not going to war, lusting after anothers wife, deceives her husband, then murders him.
T-confesses/admits his sin and repents and ask for something he doesn’t have, a clean heart. Psalm 51:10 King David’s Psalm of repentance. In Hebrew David isn’t asking Elohim to clean/renew his heart. He was asking Elohim to create something out of nothing (like Gen 1:1) and place it inside of him – a clean heart.
C-wants their spouse to be Godly towards them, wants their own needs met.
T-esteems the other above themselves (Phillipians 2:3) and seeks to meet the needs of the other. If everyone sought to meet the needs of another, who’s needs wouldn’t be met? No ones!
C-wants justice when wrong is done to them, ie eye for eye, tooth for tooth.
T-loves their enemies – Matt 5:44, Rom 12:20
C-feels they deserve respect, and therefore demands and/or expects it.
T-knows the only way to be greatest is to be least. Luke 22:26 – Yeshua telling His Talmidim (disciples) not to be like the goyim (gentiles). If you’re a gentile follower of Yeshua, guess what, you’ve been grafted in – spiritually. Rom 2:29
He (the enemy) is not named HaSatan (the adversary) for nothing. The title devil also desribes him well – diabolos: one who cast himself between two in order to separate them (Spiros Zohhiates Th.D – Hebrew Greek Study Bible lexicon).
Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of Elohim (God), that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto Elohim (God), which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of Elohim (God).
Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Leviticus 11:45 For I am Yahweh (the LORD) that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your Elohim (God): ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
1Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Papa, make us the men and women, boys and girls, husbands and wife’s, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, The Bride of Messiah, that You want us to be.
I’m an honored father. Honored to be the father on one of our Fathers daughters. My eldest daughter, now 19, displayed her spiritual maturity a couple of weeks ago, I’d like to share the story with you.
I love my daughters, both of them. I pray for them, their husbands (to be), their marriages, their children and grandchildren. I’ve spent countless nights without sleeping thinking about and praying about them, my eldest in particular. As a father, following the Father of Lights, I’ve taught my daughters about Adonai (the Lord), His Word, living for Him, honoring Him, and most importantly – Knowing Him in a personal intimate way. That said, here’s what happened.
Over the last year to year and a half, my eldest daughter had gotten extremely disrespectful to me and my wife. She’d grown increasingly manipulative, causing much contention between my wife and I. She was also very selfish and rebellious. I’ve lost many nights of sleep praying about what to do. She plans on attending a Bible College this fall but her behavior was anything but Christlike. My sweet perfect loving respectful beloved daughter was driving me bonkers. She lives in our guest house, so as to try to give her more freedom and teach her independance. After all, she will be gone someday and this I know is the best for both parent and child. While living here she only has four things she needs to do. 1. Pay her small rent which mainly covers her electricity usage. 2. Keep the house clean, not spotless but not a dump. 3. Make time for fellowship with other believers, to include a weekly Bible study as a family. 4. Honor, as in respect, her father and mother. Well, one out of four isn’t bad. Or is it? I knew what was causing the majority of her problem, she was not fellowshipping. Not with believers, her family, or most importantly – Elohim (God). She hadn’t been to church for about three months. Almost anytime we had to do our weekly family Bible study she managed to get out of it with other plans. She was spiritually starving herself to death and the effects were obvious, not only in her but in how it affected the whole family. I prayed and prayed, as I have been for the last year and a half, “Papa, what do I do?” I’d thought about kicking her out, but being that I already worried about her I didn’t want to worry even more. At least here I knew she was safe. I thought if only we can hang on until she gets to Bible College. I know she was thinking the same thing. The problem is, when we, as followers of Messiah, keep ourselves away from Him and fellowship with other believers we become weak.
After laying awake in prayer all night I came to a decision, she had to move out. It was time for her to be on her own. After all, her behavior showed that is what she wanted, to be completely independent. I decided it was time to help her do just that. I was rather surprised what happened to me later that morning. I had this un-explainable inner peace. God peace. I hadn’t felt such peace for a long time. I was very thankful to Elohim (God) for His peace. As His word states in Phillipians 4:7 – And the shalom of Elohim (peace of God), which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus). Indeed, the peace I felt did pass all understanding. Odd how Elohim can give us such inner peace, even when we have to do or say something which we don’t want to do because of fear. Hey, it just hit me, 1 Yochanan-John- 4:18 – There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. Todah Abba. That explains the peace. It was time to talk with my beloved about it, and then inform my daughter of my decision.
Know I know it’s hard being a teenager, I remember my own teen years. Stuck between being not a child anymore, yet not really an adult either. I think Adonai may have made the teen years as such so children would have a desire to leave home on their own, and as parents we would want them to go. But being an adult I also know that life isn’t as easy as you think it is when you’re a teenager. Rather, it’s not easy at all. Neither was what I was going to tell my eldest, but she had to go. I knew she was just toying with sin, trying to just get close to the flames without getting burnt until she got to school. Then everything would be back to Jesus Jesus Happy Happy. I’ve done that, you always get burnt. As I heard one preacher say, “sin will take you further than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay.” Indeed it will, every time.
So, after talking with Amy she and I sat down with our daughter to tell her. This is what I told her, as well as I remember. All day the story of Cain and Abel, concerning their bringing sacrifices to Yahweh (the LORD). Cain was mad because Yahweh did not have respect on his offering of the fruit of the ground. Cain was very angry and had a sad countenance and Yahweh asked him why he was so mad with the long sad face. Yahweh told him that if he (Cain) did what was right he would be accepted of Him, but if he chose not to then sin lieth at the door and desires you but you must master sin. (Gen 4:3-7) We know from the next verse that Cain chose to allow sin to master him instead of him mastering it. The choice is ours. Yeshua (Jesus) broke the curse of sin and has restored the choice to us. You are legally an adult now. You can do what you want to do. Elohim (God) has given us all free will, to choose. He won’t make you obey and neither will I. I can’t make you be respectful of your mother and I. I can’t make you go to church. I can’t make you do Bible study with us. I can’t make you pray. I can’t make you read your Bible on your own. These choices are yours and you’ve chose not to do them. However, we discussed these when we agreed to let you move into the guest house. I understand now about the story of the momma bird kicking the baby bird out of the nest. It’s apparently your time to fly, to be on your own. I love you, you’re always welcome here but you need to experience life on you own right now. I’ll always worry about you, I’ve learned that will never end no matter how old you get. That’s just part of being a parent. But I can’t watch you undo everything Adonai (the Lord) has done through your mother and I. I’ll always pray for you but you must choose to follow Yahweh (the LORD), His Word, His Way and your own. The choice is up. I can’t make you be a Christian and Elohim (God) won’t make you. I want Elohim to bless you but He can’t when you won’t obey Him and His Word. He won’t contradict His Word, He can’t. His love is unconditional. His blessings are not.
She said she was expecting it and thought it would probably be better for her little sister if she moved out. She said she had thought about moving out but knew she wouldn’t do it unless we made her do it. I knew she was upset, though not nearly as upset as my wife and youngest daughter were. I felt rather odd afterwards, the rest of the night, and throughout the next day – I still had this incredible peace. I didn’t want my baby to leave. Although often I can’t wait, generally I dread the thought. But I know, only Adonai (the Master) can truly protect her, body, soul and spirit.
I spoke with a few friends about the whole matter, men, husbands and fathers themselves. I was surprised that they told me the same thing. They said they knew it was very hard and they were proud of me. They stated they knew it was a very hard decision, as sometimes things which Elohim commands us as fathers to are. They were encouraged to see another father obey The Father. Todah Abba for the encouragement, you never leave us without confirmation, comfort and encouragement for standing upon You.
Throughout that next day Elohim continued to remind me how He always gives me “an out.” You know, the whole 2 Chronicles 7:14 – If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. No matter my choice, obedience or rebellion, He always gives me an out, always. His mercy is new every moment of every day, all we have to do is choose – His Way.
I shared this with my eldest later that day. I wanted her to know, she had an out just as Abba always gives all His children, the choice was hers. Now comes the “Honored Father” part of all this.
She asked me later that day if she could stay. She apologized for being so disrespectful to me and for being so selfish. She said that after our previous talk she was really afraid and seriously cried out to Elohim. She remembered being at the camp this summer where she plans on attending Bible College. Adonai (the Lord) told her of how He wanted to bless her life and use her to bring Him honor and glory. But, He told her it was dependent upon her treatment and submission to her earthly father, me. I’d forgotten as well that she’d shared that with me when we were driving home from the airport upon her return. She said she knew the devil was trying to ruin all of the plans Elohim had for her and her life, and that he’d succeed if she left home before it was time. She said she would make a serious effort to be respectful of me and her mother and make time for fellowship, prayer and reading Abba’s Word.
So, I am indeed an honored father. I’m honored our Father has entrusted me with his daughter. A daughter who listens to The Father, hers and mine. It takes spiritual maturity to suck up your pride, humble yourself, and obey Yahweh (the LORD). We followers of Yeshua say it, but how often do we do it? As Yeshua himself stated – And why call ye me, Adonai, Adonai (Lord, Lord), and do not the things which I say? (Luke 6:46) As well as verse 44 of the same chapter – For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
We are indeed known by our fruit. Yahweh, help us to bear much fruit for you by your planting, watering and growing the fruit of Your Word Yeshua in us and through us. In my beloved daughter of Elyon (Most High God), bear much fruit. So if you know her, pray for her. Yeshua has huge plans for her. I know, he almost took me out of the way (as in from earth) for considering getting in His way of them. HaSatan (the adversary – the devil) seeks to hinder her. Pray she won’t let him. Pray she walks in the Spirit, obedient to The Word and masters sin. His power is in her to to it, as it’s been made available to us all.
The choice is hers. The choice is mine. The choice is yours. The choice is ours. Choose!
Shalom. As many of you know, Sara and I went to see Toby Mac in concert a few weeks ago. If you listen to Christian music then you know Toby Mac is probably the biggest Christian artist there is. He also has his own record production label out there which produces a large amount of the music you hear on the radio. We also got to meet him and speak with him for awhile. We went for Sara’s Christmas present from her mother and I. We purchased VIP tickets, which as far as I knew was simply to get seats up front. If you know Sara, you know she loves Toby Mac, he’s by far her favorite musician. What I want to share is how our being obedient to Elohim (God) allows Him to touch more people than we are ever aware of.
For several days leading up to the concert I had some things on my heart which I really wanted to share with Toby. Mostly words of encouragement. I also wanted to pray for him and his family. While we were en-route, driving through Idaho, I started praying. I told Yeshua I really wanted to talk with Toby and if it was His will would He please somehow make it possible. I knew that He would, if it was His will. This has happened to me before, where He’s allowed me to speak with Toby several years ago, Rebecca St. James, and Jeff Deyo (original singer for Sonic Flood). I’ve witnessed how each time Adonai (the Lord) used me to bless and encourage them, as He did with me by answering my prayer. Well guess what, He did it again!
Little known to me at the time, but our VIP tickets meant we, and about thirty other people, were going to privately meet Toby before the concert. Sara and Toby talked about music and her playing. She expects to open for him someday, of which I’m sure she will. I got to share with Toby why I liked him so much. Basically I told him I appreciated that he left no doubt as to who he is singing to whom he is singing about. I shared with him that I’m not big on grey areas, in myself or in general. Either be hot or cold, not lukewarm. Be who Elohim has called you to be, and what He’s created you to be. I don’t remember everything I said to him but that’s the jest of it. I did give him one of our hats from In The Red Letters.com with my logo on it. I told him about the opening video, to which he stated “I know that song.” Which of course he does, since it’s his song (dcTalk). We got our picture taken with him and then I got to pray for him. I felt honored to be able to pray for someone who has the opportunity to influences so many believers. After talking with him I was talking to a brother there with my arm wrapped over his shoulder. I had no idea he was one of the main singers in Toby’s band. We just talked about how awesome Elohim is and Toby’s new song “City On Our Knees.” My favorite song of his by the way. I’ll try to remember to put it on this post when I’m done.
So how did what was on my heart, which I shared with Toby, effect others? About halfway through his performance he gave a testimony about what God was doing. He then repeated my words to an audience of several thousand people. Judging from the crowds reaction they were inspired. I had know idea he was going to do that, but Abba did. Abba, Eloheynu (our God), is an encourager. It just goes to show how our being obedient to Elohim (God) allows Him to touch more people than we are ever aware of. The numbers aren’t what matters. Remember the 99 sheep and the one lost sheep in Matt 18:12
How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety andnine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
And Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and ninejust persons, which need no repentance.
Everyone matters to Eloheynu (our God). Everyone!
So be encourage, as I was encouraged. When we are obedient to Him, there is no limit to what He will do and to whom He will touch. After all, He is El Shaddai, The Almighty God.
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Adon (Lord) and Saviour Yeshua Mashiyach (Jesus Christ). To Him be glory both now and for ever. Amein. II Kefa (pet) 3:18.
A couple of days ago my nineteen year old daughter asked me a question. She had just listened to a famous Bible teacher on the radio who stated something to the effect that “God doesn’t care what you do with your life, or what you drive, etc., He only cares about your character. He stated there is no Biblical evidence to the contrary. No?
She asked what I think. I’m glad she still ask’s by the way. She stated she disagreed with him but still wanted to know what I thought. Good girl, don’t be a blind follower – only Elohim knows EVERYTHING, and only HE is ALWAYS RIGHT – Yochanan JNO 16:13).
So, I asked her a couple of questions.
1. Who loves you more, me or Elohim (God)? Her answer; God.
2. Who is more concerned about you, me or Elohim? Same answer.
3. Do I care what you do and what you drive, etc.? Answer; yes.
4. Repeated question 1. Who loves you more, me or Elohim? Answer; God
So, if as your earthly father, I care about what you do in life, what you drive (like is it safe, dependable, good gas mileage, maintained), doesn’t Elohim (God)? As your father, do I care about how you look? How you dress? What you read, watch, listen to, etc.?
She knows I only care because I know Him, Yeshua (Jesus) reigns in my heart, and He causes me to care. So if my caring comes from Him, don’t you think He cares?
We discussed abortion and why Christians are against it. She said it’s because a baby is a living human being. Remind you of anyone in Scripture? Yirmeyahu (Jerimiah) maybe? Yirmeyahu 1:5 – Before I formed thee in the bellyI knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, [and] I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Wo! It sounds like Elohim (God) actually made him, for something specific, even before he was born. No way! Gee, does that mean maybe He made us all for something specific? Or did He just like Jeremiah’s dad and mom, and him, more? Maybe….NOT! Romans 2:11 comes to mind; For there is no respect ofpersons with Elohim (God). This verse follows a discussion about Jews (The Chosen people of Elohim, Chosen by Himself by the way) and everybody else – Goyim (Gentiles). Sounds to me like He cares the same for us all.
I didn’t ask Elohim (God) until I was thirty, what did you make me for? I regret not caring enough to ask earlier. I’ve taught my children, and others, don’t be a stiff necked knuckle head like I was. Ask the Creator, why was I created. Seems like a no brainer to me. I knew I’d be blessed no matter what I did but I also knew I was created for something.
So my points are these;
Although I agree that our character is His main focus (JER 17:10), to believe the other is just, well, evolutionary in thought. Isn’t that why so many are so hard-hearted and think their life has no meaning? Because they’re taught in school that they just “evolved from snot” and have no absolute purpose but to eat, drink, procreate, poop and die?
Ever hear a preacher say they were “made” to be a preacher. How about a teacher? Doctor? Nurse? Mechanic? Rancher? Mother? Wife? Athlete? Computer Tech? So, is it just some, like Jeremiah, who were actually created for a reason?
If I care, doesn’t Eloheynu (our God)? And speaking of the preachers comments, here are some scriptures that seem to me to imply Elohim cares, at least a little;
D’varim (Deuteronomy) 8:4 Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.
WOW, He apparently cared about their clothes and shoes, at least for forty years anyway. He cares about their clothes and shoes, but not what they do? If that were true, I’d rather be a shoe.
1 Cor 11:5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with [her] head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
So He cares about, a woman’s hair? Weird.
1 Cor 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
A mans hair too? Weirder.
And speaking about hair, what about the statement Yeshua (Jesus) made, as recorded by Mattityahu (Matthew) 10:30-31 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Cool! Elohim knows how many (or how few) hairs are on our heads. Like, wow, everybody? Nooo. And we’re even more important to him than birds. Go figure.
I know the hair thing could cause a lengthy “theological” debate. The point isn’t our church learned doctrine, the point is this – Our Creator cares about EVERYTHING! Not just your character, but every jot and tittle written in His books, about you. About everyone. Your no accident, or coincidence. You were designed. Is Elohim the only designer who designs something for “nothing special”? Did Messiah die so we could Know Him, Know Yahweh, but not know why we were made? Hogwash!
So who cares more, us, or Him?
I say, Elohim does care. What could be more obvious?
I am a soldier in the army of Yahweh (God). Adonai Yeshua HaMashiach (The Lord Jesus the Messiah) is my commanding officer. The Holy Bible is my code of conduct. Faith, prayer, and The Word are my weapons of warfare. I have been taught by Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit), trained by experience, tried by adversity and tested by fire. I am a volunteer in this army, and I am enlisted for eternity.
I will either retire in this army at the rapture or die in this army; but I will not get out, sell out, be talked out, or pushed out. I am faithful, reliable, capable and dependable. If my Elohim (God) needs me, I am there. If He needs me to teach children, work with youth, help adults or just sit and learn, He can use me because I am there.
I am a soldier. I am not a babe. I do not need to be pampered, petted, primed up, pumped up, picked up or pepped up. I am a soldier. No one has to call me, remind me, write me, visit me, entice me, or lure me. I am a soldier. I am not a wimp. I am in place, saluting The King, obeying His orders, praising His Name, and building His Kingdom! No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards, candy or give me handouts. I do not need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for, or catered to.
I am committed. I cannot have my feelings hurt bad enough to turn me around. I cannot be discouraged enough to turn aside. I cannot lose enough to cause me to quit. When Yeshua (Jesus) called me into this army, I had nothing. If I end up with nothing, I will still come out ahead. I always win. My Elohim (God) has, and will continue to, supply all of my needs. I am more than a conqueror. I will always triumph. I can do all things through Messiah who strengthens me.
The kingdom of darkness cannot defeat me. People cannot disillusion me. Weather cannot weary me. Sickness cannot stop me. Battles cannot beat me. Money cannot buy me. Governments cannot silence me and hell has no part with me. I am a soldier. Even death cannot destroy me. For when my Commander in Chief calls me from this battlefield, He will promote me. I am a soldier in the Army of Yahweh, and I’m marching in victory. I will not give up. I will never surrender. I will not turn around. I am a soldier, marching in His will on the earth, under His rule. Here I stand!
Will you stand with me? With Him?
Have you repented and accepted the sacrifice of The Lamb of Yahweh, Yeshua, for the forgiveness of your sins? Made Yeshua your Adon (Lord) and King? Been baptized for the remission of your sins? Received The Spirit? Then you are already enlisted!
Question is, which part of the service are you in? I’m a veteran of the US Army, 12 years active duty, 1 year reserve. I mean no disrespect to anyone, but this is the best way I know how to ask the question. So, are you…
1. Active Duty: Serving Adonai faithfully, daily, and on duty 24-7?
2. Reserve Status: Serving only when called upon, or twice a year: ”Christmas and Easter?”
3. Guard Status: Backing up the Active Duty group, occasionally?
4. AWOL! Absent With Out the Lord?
Think about it. Keep looking up to Elohim and know He is always looking down at you.
What does Proverbs 22:6 mean? In my KJV Bible it states: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. The difference between English and `Ibriy, pronounced ib-ree’ (Hebrew) often amazes me. In `Ibriy (Hebrew) the verse states: (read right to left) חנך לנער על-פי דרכו גם כי-יזקין לא-יסור ממנה – Dedicate (chanak as in Chanukah) to the youth on the bidding of the way of him even that as he is growing old he shall not withdraw (turn aside) from it. One difference, in `Ibriy it actually instructs us to dedicate (train up) a child in “his way.”
Most of us, when we read Prov 22:6, think it teaches us that if we train up our children in the ways of Elohim (God), i.e. accepting Yeshua (Jesus) as their Savior, living a Godly moral life, etc. that when they are adults they will automatically live a “good Christian” life. That’s partially true, we are to teach them of Yahweh (the LORD), His Way, His Word and how He wants them to live, but that is not exactly what the verse teaches us as we see from the original text. Some examples of this not being the case is evident by some notorious people from past and present. Charles Darwin (chieftain in evilution teaching in our public school system), Karl Marx founder of Communism, Alice Cooper (Rock musician who took his name from a witch), Marilyn Manson (Satanic musician), and others. And look at the behavior of many children being raised in “Christian” homes. Many are just as pagan and sexually active as, well, pagans.
I’ve discovered, over the last sixteen years of diligently seeking Yahweh’s help in prayer for raising my own two children, that He has been doing what the verse states. Since He has done it in me, I know many of you have learned the same thing from Him. Even though I had no idea until a few months ago how this verse is written in `Ibriy. I had been trying to raise them according to the typical Christian doctrine as stated above, but knew in my soul there was more to raising His children then what I at the time knew the verse to mean. I know Elohim (God) created each and everyone of us for a particular reason. He created us, them, for something unique. I also knew it was my responsibility, and privilege, to search out the matter (Pro 25:2).
So what does it mean to train them up in their way? Well, as my daughter Sara so often states when I ask her what a verse means, “exactly what it says.” This verse teaches us to dedicate our children in their way. As in what has Elohim put inside of them which He wants to come out, what they were made for. Allow me to share a small portion of my experience with my own two daughters.
First, my gifted honored firstborn, Kyni bat Elyon (daughter of the Most High God). I’ve know since she was about three that she was created to be a comforter, through words, actions and song. It is something she has always naturally done. Like most children, she has showed different levels of rebellion (how about them teen years – ), both to us her parents, and to Elohim. I knew that this, if left unchecked, would harden her heart. The result would be her being of no heavenly good to others in comforting them in a holy way. Remember, the gifts and calling of Elohim are without repentance (Rom 11:29). He doesn’t take it back, but He does desire we use them for His glory, not carnally in a hellish selfish way. It’s up to us to observe them, ask-seek-and knock, so we know what “their way” is. For this reason I’ve gotten onto her rather quickly throughout her life to help her prevent her heart from hardening. To her it has seemed as though I’m stricter on her than on her younger sister. I’m not denying that either. We tend to be more strict on the firstborn. Our “learning” child. As they grow, we grow. But the foundational reason has been to dedicate her to Adonai (the Lord) in her way, her gifting, her calling, placed in her by Him. She’s almost an adult now, legally she is, and I can see the seeds of prayer growing into fruition in her. Now it’s up to her to be responsible with the gifts and calling Elohim has placed inside of her. She is blessed with a voice to match the gifting of her spirit, to worship Eloheynu (our God). Though she gets very nervous singing publicly we have tried to encourage her over the years to focus on Who she is singing too, not the humans listening. She’s getting there. One day she’ll be there. I know the foundation is laid, which will stand as she “grows old.”
With Sara, my gifted princess from El Hay (The Living God) I’ve had to do the same thing as far as prayer. Sara was created for an entirely different reason than her sister. It has been very difficult for me balancing between not quenching her bold attitude, which she will need in life for her calling, and letting her “get away” with too much. Plus, she’s the baby. Not a baby, but the baby, growing into a lovely young woman. Sara will have to stand, no matter what others think, say, or feel, in obedience to her calling. But she, like us all, has a rebellious attitude which could ruin her if allowed to go too far. She too has been blessed with a wonderful voice, so Kyni tells me-she won’t sing for me but I believe it. She also has taught herself to play piano wonderfully, can learn any instrument she gets her hands on, and is incredibly artistic. But, all these gifts in her will not glorify Yahweh (the LORD), if she is not trained in the importance of them and putting them to use throughout her daily life. It’s up to us, her parents, to mine these treasures. We still have a couple of years together with her. I see the seeds of prayer growing in her as well.
It’s up to each parent, especially us fathers, to seek out Elohim on behalf of our children. To learn of our children, discover what it is they are gifted with, and then mine baby mine. Bring out the gold. They truly were made for a reason. If we help them grow in their way, they will walk in their way well into their old age. In doing so they will walk in His Way, The Way. Something I try to keep in mind is this; I’m not only raising them as children, but as adults, as wives, as mothers and eventually grandmothers. I’m not as nearly concerned with their now as I am with their entire lives. What will be our response at the Judgement Seat of Messiah on how we raised His children if we don’t do our part in bringing out the gold He’s planted inside them.
All this needs to be done, without leaving the other undone. It is still our responsibility to also teach them of Yahweh’s love (Yochanan – John 3:16) for them, To KNOW Yeshua, and grow in their relationship with Him. Knowing the Word of Yahweh and following it’s precepts. What an awesome honor it is to make Talmidim (Disciples) of Messiah out of our own children. So train them up parents, in their way, in His way, in The Way. Dig deep, plant deep, the seeds will always remain. Elohim will continue to build upon it… well into their old age.
